If you enjoy genealogy and family history searches, the Publications Committee needs your help to move the Bethel Cemetery book forward. Pam Schuler is compiling information including photos of headstones, inscriptions, obituaries, death certificates and family histories of all those interred in the historic Bethel Cemetery. She needs help with the following:

1. Researching obituaries and news items on microfilm at the McKinney Library (2-3 hours once a week).

2. Online research of family lines.

3. Searching online for missing death certificates.

4. Scanning documents, photos and looking through photos on file.

Knowledge of some online web sites such as ancestry.com is helpful but not necessary for all of Pam’s needs. Anyone can be taught how to look at microfilm and use a scanner. Please consider helping on this worthwhile project to research and record all we can about the historic Bethel Cemetery of Frisco.

Contact Pam Schuler at Pam@newschu.com.

Due to the inclement weather, the 2 & 5 PM shows for Sunday March, 21st have been canceled. While we made every attempt to keep the Big Top open, the heavy rain and snow presented unsafe conditions for the public , animals, and performers.

Texans didn’t find their money growing on trees, but they certainly found bovine gold roaming the countryside free for the taking. Easy money on the hoof presented incredible profit opportunities for many Texans if they could get herds to northern markets.

Collin County Cattlemen recounts the incredible true stories of this iconic period in Texas history presented by Randy Farmer, historian and author, at the Frisco Heritage Museum on Saturday, March 27, from 2- 3:30 p.m. in the museum’s Heritage Theater located at 6455 Page Street.

The State of Texas dominated the United States cattle trade during the boom years from 1865 to 1892, and many of the “Cattle Kings” of Texas got their start in Collin County. Learn about the cattle industry in Collin County, an early center of both legal and illegal cattle trade from the 1840s until 1874 when the Chisholm Trail opened further west.

The program is free with Museum admission. ($4 for adults; $2 for children, ages 5-18; or $8 for a family)
