Crozier-Covington-Sickles House
Crozier-Covington-Sickles House – This 1895 Victorian home was built by Nannie Chambers Crozier, the widow of John Crozier. The 2-story home was built with lumber hauled from Jefferson, Texas where most of the lumber used in that era came from. The house was built on a foundation of bois d’arc piers and beams. Two of the piers can be seen on the porch of the Log Cabin. The 7th stair case spindle is placed upside down, supposedly to keep the spirits downstairs, following an old Irish custom. John and Donna Sickles were the last owners of the home. The original location of the house was in the community of Lebanon which was located on Preston Road near the intersection of John Hickman Parkway. The home is currently undergoing restoration and future plans include a bride’s dressing area and space for small receptions on the first floor. The second floor will feature three rooms decorated with period furnishings many original to the home and donated by members of the Crozier family.
