William Springs Northcutt, his wife, Mary Elizabeth Smith Northcutt and their two children, John T. and Hassie, came to Texas from McMinnville, Warren County, Tennessee, in the latter part of the nineteenth century.
Tennessee was the chief battleground of the war between the States and so much of this area was damaged or destroyed and restoration was a slow process; so they moved with their family to new land in Texas. They were farmers and first settled on land in the Navo community. Later they moved to their farm about five miles south of Emerson and three miles southwest of Lebanon. Another son, Roy, was born here in 1890.
When W. S. Northcutt retired from farming, they moved into Frisco. Their home was built in 1916 and it still stands on the corner of Sixth and Maple Streets. Roy and his wife, Nona Ogle (1915) later moved into and owned the W. S. Northcutt house. Roy was the first fire chief in Frisco.
