Graveside services will be held August 20,2004 at Restland Memorial Park with Rev. Judith Reedy presiding, for Charles Ray Head of Pocatello, Idaho who passed away July 13, 2004. He was born January 5, 1917 in Waco, Texas to Ellis Gerome and Florence Irene Trice Head. Charles attended John Tarleton Junior College and received his B.S. Degree from Texas A&M, Class of 1939.
He married Lucille (Cindy) McIntire of Frisco in 1940. She preceded him in death in 1969. He married Virginia Ann North in July 1976. Charles served in the United States Army during World War II, where he was in the second wave at Omaha Beach on D-Day. He was honorably discharged as a Captain.
He managed grain elevators in Hale Center, Texas and Lubbock, Texas. Charles later worked as a warehouse examiner for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. After retiring, he enjoyed taking geology classes at Idaho State University for many years. Charles Ray was an active member of the Gate City Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; two sons: Charles Richard (Detta) of Arlington, Virginia; and Thomas Edgar (Mary Ann) of Portland, Oregon; three grandchildren: Charles Robert, Stephen Thomas, and Kristin Marie. Charles is also survived by one sister, Virginia La Rue D’Ancy of Fort Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by his first wife and his parents. He was the brother-in-law of Frances Stem and Katy Almon of Frisco.
