“For the Birds”

Just in time to help our feathered friends make it through the winter, kids can make a birdseed craft to take home and hang on a tree. All historic structures will be open for guided tours and the blacksmiths will be working at the forge.

Happy 115th Birthday Frisco!

It’s a party at Third Sunday Open House! Celebrate our city’s 115th birthday at the Heritage Center. Mayor Maso will blow the whistle on Steam Engine No. 19 at 2:00 o’clock and cake will be served in the Depot. Activities include historic home tours, kids games and crafts, Live Animal Show & Tell, and music in the chapel.

The Heritage Museum will be open free of charge.

March Madness!

Spend a fun afternoon at the Heritage Center where kids can visit with Peter Cottontail and see live animals from Grisham Farms including Penny the Pig. See a live demonstration of the Heritage Museum’s printing press, and celebrate Texas’ Independence with a game of Texas Bingo. Historic buildings will be open for tours and the blacksmiths will be working at the Gaby Blacksmith forge.

Spring Roundup

Lots of kid’s activities are planned for our Spring Roundup. Make a pipe cleaner branding iron, rope a hay-bale steer, and have your picture taken on a real western saddle (horse not included). Visit the log cabin where kids can experience daily life as they perform chores such as sweeping, churning, and clothes washing on a washboard. Enjoy musical entertainment, tour historic buildings, and watch the blacksmiths working in the old Gaby Blacksmith Shop. And, don’t miss the Swinging Stars Square Dance Club demonstrations in the Depot, 2-3 p.m. You can bet your boots it’ll be fun for all ages!

Dad’s Toolbox – Now & Then

Treat Dad to a special Father’s Day event at the Frisco Heritage Center where he’ll receive a free membership to the Heritage Association of Frisco just for visiting. He can browse a vintage tool display, watch blacksmith demonstrations at the old forge, and cool off with ice cream on the Muse House front porch. You can even take his picture through the calaboose (jail) window bars. Games and craft activities are planned for kids. This is free family fun!

Summer Fun & Safety

Introducing the Critter Café, a nonprofit organization designed to bring local businesses, animal rescue groups, and the community together. Stephanie Grisham of Grisham Farms Connections invites you to come for snacks and hang out with the animals.

Other activities include kid’s games and activities, and a safety information table hosted by the Frisco Police Department. Meet members of the Preston Ridge Chapter of the National Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), watch blacksmiths at the Gaby forge, and tour historic buildings.

Back to School

Celebrate the beginning of the school year with kid’s crafts and games at our August Open House. Balloon art in the Depot from 1:30 to 2:30, and a special violin concert by Gayane Pogosyan in the Old Lebanon Chapel at 2:15. Working blacksmiths and docent guided tours of historic buildings are conducted all afternoon.

The Critter Café will return this month, along with show-and-tell animals from Grisham Farms. They will be in the Muse House from 1-3 p.m.

GO TEAM!

Is it any wonder that sports is our theme for this month’s Third Sunday Open House? Come get your cheer on with demonstrations by the Trent Middle School cheerleaders. There will be a variety of kid’s crafts and footballs for tossing while blacksmiths work at the forge and tours of our historic buildings are given by docents all afternoon.

Buy a snack and hang out with the animals at the Critter Café where you can see and touch a variety of animals or adopt a rescued pet. They will be in the Muse House from 1-3 p.m.

Pumpkins & Pets

TAKE HOME A PAINTED PUMPKIN AND A PET! Kids will love decorating their own pumpkins with markers, glitter, stickers, etc. at our Fall mini-festival. Come for crafts, Games in the Gazebo, musical entertainment, and more. Adopt a pet at the Collin County Critter Café or just hang out with the animals. Take a tour of our historic buildings and watch blacksmiths at the forge. All ages welcome at this free event.
