Robert J. “Bob” Griffin, age 82, of Frisco, Texas (recently living in Prosper) passed away August 1, 2014 in Carrollton, Texas. He was born on October 3, 1931 in Dallas, Texas to Hazel Pauline (Christie) and Robert Edgar Griffin. On June 30, 1951, Bob married Thelma Rae Sterling in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He worked in sales for various industries (including his own feed store) and was a long time active member of many of the Frisco community activities and clubs. His most recent contribution was spearheading the Gaby’s Blacksmith Shop rendition at the Frisco Heritage Center.
Bob is survived by wife, Thelma Griffin of Frisco, Texas (recently Prosper); four children, Joe Tim Griffin (Patty) of Rockwall, Texas, Sterling Christie “Chris” Griffin of Prosper, Texas, Robert “Bo” Edgar Griffin (Joy) of Prosper, Texas and Barry Dale Griffin (Nancy) of Boca Raton, Florida; six grandchildren, Rob Martinson (Nomi), Alisha Nicole Hopkins (Roy), Teague Griffin (Lindsay), Holly Griffin, Tate Griffin (Monica), Colby Griffin (Brittany); nine great-grandchildren; brother, David Griffin (Shirley) of Oak Point, Texas; sister-in-law, Augusta “Gus” Griffin; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Griffin, two brothers, Jack and Eddie “Buzz” Griffin and parents, Pauline and Robert Griffin.
A Graveside Service will be held at Rowlett Cemetery on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 10:30 AM. Family and friends are invited to a Visitation at the First United Methodist Church in Frisco on Monday, August 4, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
