Katheryne Wynema Hill Kirkland, 90, went to her eternal home on Thursday, March 7, 2013, in Denton, Texas, after a lengthy illness, with her three children and their spouses, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren by her side.

She was born April 24, 1922, in Frisco, Texas, to the late William Leroy Hill and Kate Minerva Hays Hill.

She married the love of her life, Joseph Eldon Kirkland, on February 14, 1942. They had three children who were the pride and joy of Wynema’s life. She devoted her life to raising her children and modeled for them love, kindness, compassion and generosity.

She loved spending time with her children and their spouses, her eight grandchildren and their spouses, and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Frisco, Texas, First United Methodist Church of Lewisville, Texas, and Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point, Texas. She was a member of the Bolivar Baptist Church in Sanger.

She was a member of the 1941 graduating class of Frisco High School.

She was a member of the Lewisville Chapter #935 of Eastern Star and a dual member with Wills Point Chapter #366.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years in 1986; her parents, William Leroy Hill and Kate Minerva Hays Hill; and six brothers, two sisters and their spouses.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Wynema Jo Kirkland McLemee and Don McLemee, of Rockwall, Texas, Karen Elizabeth Warnock and David Warnock, of Forney, Texas, and son and daughter-in-law, Roy Eldon “Buster” Kirkland and Malinda Kirkland of Sanger; grandchildren and spouses, Scott and Rita McLemee, of Washington, D.C., Donna and Jay Combs of Rowlett, Texas, Amy Warnock of Celina, Texas, Amanda and Nathan Boquist of Terrell, Texas, Angela and Joseph Barton of Wills Point, Texas, Jeremy and Natasha Kirkland, Sanger, Texas, Melanie and Hunter Jones of Krum, Texas, and Chad and Lora Kirkland, Fort Worth, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Casey and Ashley Combs, Alexandria and Mason Warnock, Jackson Ezell, Makinsey, Talon and Kane Kirkland, and Kylie and Libby Kirkland.

The celebration of Katheryne Wynema Hill Kirkland was held at Restland Memorial Chapel at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, with interment immediately following at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
