Held on the third Sunday of each month (except June), from 1 – 4 pm.

Frisco Concert January 20, 2019“For the Birds”
1 – 4 PM

Our winter celebration is all about birds including a bird craft for kids and a free concert, “Of Songbirds and Lovebirds,” by the Dallas Classical Singers in the Chapel at 2pm. Tour historic structures and warm up with the blacksmiths as they work in the old Gaby Blacksmith Shop.

February 2019 Birthday flyer“Happy Birthday Frisco”
1 – 4 PM

Join us in celebrating Frisco’s 117th birthday with cake in the old train Depot. Mayor Jeff Cheney will blow the whistle on the steam engine and there will be crafts, games and free fun for all. All historic structures will be open and the blacksmiths will be working in the Gaby Blacksmith Shop. Free admission to the Heritage Museum on this special occasion. Be sure to visit our newest exhibit, “The Lost Towns of Frisco,” that tells the story of six small communities that declined with the birth of Frisco.

March 17, 2019

“Texas Our Texas”
1 – 4 PM

The Heritage Association will be handing out Texas flags to celebrate two of our state’s most important anniversaries: Independence Day, March 2, 1836, when the Texas Declaration of Independence was adopted; and San Jacinto Day, April 21, 1836, when a victory at the Battle of San Jacinto won the state’s independence from Mexico. Kids can color a flowerpot and take home bluebonnet seeds (the Texas State Flower) to plant. Grisham Farms will be on hand with live animals, and Stonebriar Church will provide music in the Chapel. Tour historic homes, watch blacksmiths at work, and visit the Heritage Museum free of charge

 

May 19, 2019

“Farming in Frisco”
1 – 4 PM

Most of Frisco’s first hundred years centered around agriculture. Working with a cotton craft at the May Third Sunday at Heritage Center will help everyone learn about our city’s past connection to farming. We’ll also have the E-Flat Porch Band (family friendly blues band) in the museum to go along with the museum’s Cast of Blues exhibit!

 

June 16, 2019

“Fathers and Families in Frisco”
1 – 4 PM

It’s Father’s Day so treat dad and the whole family to an afternoon at the Heritage Center where he can see blacksmiths in action, tour historic buildings, and visit the Heritage Museum free of charge. We’ll have a crafts for kids, a petting zoo of small handheld animals, and sweets for the whole family. Free family fun!

 

July 21, 2019

“Summer Vacation”
1 – 4 PM

Stop by the Heritage Center for a wonderful afternoon! The Chapel will host a violin concert by Gayane Pogosyan from 2:00-3:00pm. We’ll have live animals from Grisham Farms, a kid’s craft, and oversized checkers in the Depot. Visit the Blacksmith Shop where real blacksmiths will give demonstrations over the open fire forge. Historic homes will be open and the museum will be free for everyone for the day. It’s free family fun for all ages.

 

August 18, 2019

“Back to School”
1 – 4 PM

Be sure to visit the one-room schoolhouse at the Heritage Center where school days of yesteryear come to life. Kids can make a craft that will be perfect for learning, and visit an assortment of animals from Grisham Farms in the Depot. Tour historic homes, and don’t miss the blacksmith demonstrations over an open-fire forge. Museum admission is free for the day. Join us for family fun as we begin a new school year!

“Cowboy Days”
1 – 4 PM

Shawnee Trail Cowboy Day is coming! Enjoy a sneak peek of the action with the Lone Star Storytelling Festival student storytellers in the chapel from 2:30pm to 3:00pm, and live animals in the depot. Tour historic structures, and don’t miss the blacksmith demonstrations over an open-fire forge. Museum admission is free for the day. Join us for family fun as we gear up for Shawnee Trail.

October 20, 2019

“Pumpkins and Pets”
1 – 4 PM

We’ll have a fun pumpkin craft for the kids at this month’s Third Sunday! There will also be many fantastic creatures from Grisham Farms for the whole family to interact with – petting allowed! Docent led tours of historic structures and working blacksmiths are available for all to enjoy. And remember, the Frisco Heritage Museum is open free of charge during Third Sunday Open House.

“Turkey”
1 – 4 PM

The upcoming Thanksgiving holiday will be on our minds for this month’s Open House at Heritage Center, and at 2:00 pm, our Mayor will be on hand to pardon a very lucky turkey.  As always, there will be activities in Gaby’s, the Depot, and other historic buildings.  And remember, the Frisco Heritage Museum is open free of charge during Third Sunday Open House.  See you there.

“Santa and Cider”
1 – 4 PM

It’s not too late to tell Santa your wishes! He’ll be at the depot to welcome kids of all ages. We’ll also have the Dallas Classical Singers back in the chapel with a Christmas program at 2:00pm. There will even be sweet treats available…cider and cookies for all!

Santa will be on hand from 1 – 3:30 to hear last minute wishes. Kids can make “Grinch dust” and Christmas cards for nursing home residents. Cider and cookies for all.

Pardon Me!

Tom Turkey gets a pardon from Mayor Jeff Cheney (2pm) at this fun fall festival. Kids games and crafts, historic home tours, working blacksmiths, and free admission to the Frisco Heritage Museum.

Pumpkins & Pets
1 – 4 PM

Kids can pick a pumpkin to decorate and take home at this fun fall festival. Meet Sonic the hedgehog, Bob the python, Thumper the rabbit, and other fantastic creatures from Grisham Farms – petting allowed! Docent led tours of historic structures and working blacksmiths are available for all to enjoy. And remember, the Frisco Heritage Museum is open free of charge during Third Sunday Open House.

Third Sunday Open House Spring Fling

Plant yourself at the Frisco Heritage Center for Open House! Watch your kid’s creativity bloom as they work on a special flowerpot craft and plant seeds. See live animals from Grisham Farms, and tour our historic structures including the log cabin. Blacksmiths will be working at the forge and entertaining visitors with their skills. And remember, the Heritage Museum is open free of charge during Third Sunday Open House. Come see the new play area exhibit on the second floor.

APRIL 15, 2018

Spring Roundup!
1 – 4 PM

Square Dance demonstration and instruction in the Depot beginning at 2; calf-roping game, kid’s craft, live animals from Grisham Farms; blacksmiths, tours including log cabin that has been closed for several months for renovations. Violin concert by Gayane Pogosyan in the Chapel from 2:15-3:15.

MARCH 17, 2018

March Madness!
1 – 4 PM

Hop on down to the Heritage Center where you can celebrate and take photos with Peter Cottontail (bring your own camera, please). See live animals and make a “bunny face” craft. Games, historic structure tours, and working blacksmiths round out this afternoon of free family fun.

FEBRUARY 18, 2018

Happy 116th Birthday Frisco!
1 – 4 PM

Come celebrate Frisco’s 116th birthday with us. Mayor Cheney will blow the whistle on the steam engine and cupcakes will be served in the Depot (first come, first served). Kids can make a Happy Birthday card for their hometown. There will be lots of balloon fun and musical entertainment along with crafts and games. Experience Frisco in its early days with docent-led tours of the historic structures while blacksmiths work at the forge.

The Heritage Museum will be open free of charge.
