Erven Howington Bolin, age 85, passed away October 6, 2008 at home in Pittsburg, Texas. He was born on April 22, 1923 to Erven Sanford Bolin and Annie Ora Howington in the Allen area. Erven lived in Collin County, west of Allen, Texas where he farmed and raised stock until 1996. He was a member and deacon of Lebanon Baptist Church until he moved to Pittsburg, Texas where he attended Simpsonville Baptist Church.

Erven was a simple man and enjoyed watching the sunrise and sunset, working the land, and even had a container garden of tomatoes, peppers, and squash this year. He loved the changing of the seasons, looking at scenery and had a curiosity for life with all its details.

Erven married Zelma Louise Hollifield of Brownfield, Texas on September 5, 1942. He met his bride-to-be while visiting his mother in the hospital; Louise was in the next bed in a full body cast. She was the first thing on his mind from that day forward until his last. He is survived by his loving family: wife of 66 years-Louise; daughter, Carolyn Bolin Malcolm and her husband Oscar; son, Sanford Erven Bolin and his wife Kathy; 5 grandchildren-Angela Malcolm Clark, Ramona Malcolm Van Leeuwen, Travis Daniel Malcolm, Sanford Erven Bolin II, and Bocephus Harley Bolin; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Pansy Williams, Oma Lee Phillips, and Grace Hosp of Frisco, Texas; sister-in-law, Norma Lea and Kathleen Cleveland. Erven is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Wylie Bolin and Burl Bolin. Erven was proud of his family and took great pleasure in all of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and relatives.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lebanon Baptist Church in Frisco Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Allan Strickland and Pastor Ray Wilkins officiating. Interment will follow at Rowlett Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Tuesday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening beginning at 7:00 PM.
